Lorna Shore, Rivers of Nihil & Ingested
Just a few months ago, the TUSKA festival in Helsinki hosted the American Deathcore band “Lorna Shore”. Too soon to get them again to the capital? The crowd in the packed Jäähalli had a clear answer to that…
When a Band starts with the intro of SpongeBob SquarePants, then you know, shit is about to get real!
“Distant” was the first band of the evening and set the tone for the rest of it. Brutal fast and angry, just the way we like it. “Ingested” followed quickly after, and if there wouldn’t be a break, it was hard to tell the two bands apart.
Speaking of a break. During the short changeover we got some pop songs from more or less known artists. Nice balance between the sets!?
Also different was the sound of “Rivers of Nihil”, compared to the rest of the lineup. Bigger Focus on Melodic but with the right amount of Death Metal.
Another break and I went to the merch booth. But no chance at this time, since the queue was super long, at least for the merch of the main act. During their gig you could grab a shirt without having to wait a second. Timing is everything.
And then there was Lorna Shore. From the first song there was a good amount of fire, light, smoke and an awesome performance overall. It was just amazing, how much they stepped up their production compared to the gig at TUSKA. The crowd was boiling at this point and the request for walls of death, circle pits and crowd surfing was served immediately.
After only 8 Songs frontman Will Ramos announced the last song. Luckily it was the three part song from the Pain Remains record and lasted for almost 20min.
Final verdict: Awesome production, sound and organisation. The evening felt too short, but time flies when you have fun.
