Lorna Shore, Whitechapel & Shadow of Intent
Lorna Shore conquered the hearts of Finns – and yeah, we’re still a bunch of metalheads
Finland is a deathcore nation, there’s just no way around it. Lorna Shore brought their extreme metal train for two sold-out shows in Helsinki and Turku, and man, it was something else. There’s just something in this over-the-top metal that speaks to us grumpy people of the North. The crowd wasn’t just some stereotypical forest-dwellers in leather and spikes, but a massive mix of all kinds of folk. It’s honestly great to see that Finland is still, deep down, a metal country.

Sweden’s Humanity’s Last Breath opened the stage, and those guys just never miss. Before the main event, we got to enjoy the „sweet melodies“ of Shadow of Intent and Whitechapel. Neither of them let us down. If you’re into deathcore, you were in heaven – and it turns out, Finns really are into it.
The hype started hitting the roof when a massive Lorna Shore banner covered the stage and Bon Jovi started blasting from the PA. (Yes, Bon Jovi. Finns love him, and anyone claiming they don’t is just straight-up lying). The long wait was finally over when the curtain dropped and the headliner took over the room. And damn, they really took it. You could tell they put a lot of work into the show – fires, lights, smoke, and that theatrical deathcore at its best. Lorna Shore knows how to take all these elements, toss them in a blender, and vomit out something beautiful and massive.
The night had it all: tears, marriage proposals, emotional breakdowns, pits, walls of death, and a ton of crowd surfers. Lorna Shore delivered, and Finland gave that energy right back. I’m pretty sure a new tour is already being planned. Finland loves Lorna Shore, and I’m guessing the feeling is mutual. Personally, I’d welcome them back anytime!
