Exorbitant Prices Must Diminish and Shitbrains (US) are celebrating the release of their split and the start of the European tour at the Ebullition in Bulle. Fetophagia from Ticino and German grindcore legends Yacøpsæ complete the festivities. A lineup that doesn’t leave any wishes unanswered—at least if those wishes relate to vocal effects, blast beats, dancing, very short (but intense) sets, and of course some lounge music to set the scene.

An Evening with Machine Head @ Fri-Son, Freiburg
„An Evening with…“: So bewirbt Machine Head ihre Europatour dieses Jahr. Das abendfüllende Programm mit fast drei Stunden Livemusik und ohne Vorband machte nur einen einzigen Halt in der Schweiz – kein Wunder also, dass das Fri-Son zum Bersten voll war. Wer eines der Tickets ergattern konnte, wurde mit einer Reise durch die Diskografie der Band belohnt, exklusiven Bechern, und manch einer wird wohl seine Stimme vom lautstarken Mitsingen verloren haben.

Primitive Man, Kollaps & So Below @ Sunset Bar, Martigny
After their stint in Basel, Primitive Man (US) and Kollaps (AUS/IS) return to Switzerland – this time to the Sunset Bar in Martigny. Locals So Below open the concert and manage to expertly convey the atmosphere of their down-tuned blend of post-metal and doom, despite their short playtime – and, as I learn later, technical difficulties. With Kollaps, it gets noisier and angrier; less of a wall of sound. Their minimalist setup of just a bass and a minimal drum setup is complemented by a variety of effect pedals, particularly for the vocals. I expected more strobes and a much darker performance – the bright lights of the projection and the restrained use of flashing lights were a surprise. Primitive Man might be known for their extremely loud concerts, but here they’ve definitely held back on the decibels – or maybe the bands before rivaled their volume, and we’re just used to it by now. Like Kollaps, the band decided to use a projection over the entirety of the scene to complement their performance visually: a bit more colorful than their music would suggest, sometimes reminiscent of a sun-dappled forest ground. The cave-like walls of the Sunset Bar provide nonetheless the perfect environment for all three bands.

Hardline @ Komplex 457, Zürich
Ein Abend ganz im Zeichen des Hard Rock: Im Klub des Komplex 457 wurde es angenehm familiär. Hardline sind aktuell auf Tour und hatten ihren neuesten Longplayer „Shout“ im Gepäck. Sänger und einzig verbliebenes Gründungsmitglied Johnny Gioeli gab von Beginn an Vollgas – seine ungebrochene Leidenschaft für Hard Rock war jederzeit spürbar.
Die Bühne wirkte für die Band fast etwas zu klein, um sich vollständig entfalten zu können. Nicht nur Johnny war ständig in Bewegung, sondern auch Bassistin Anna Portalupi brachte ordentlich Dynamik ins Geschehen.
Als Support standen Sevi auf der Bühne. Der Bandname leitet sich von Sängerin Svetlana „Sevi“ Bliznakova ab. Die bulgarische Formation hatte bereits vor zwei Jahren als Support von Hardline im Z7 Konzertfabrik überzeugt. Auch diesmal zeigte sich die Band äusserst energiegeladen und passte mit ihrer Performance hervorragend zum Headliner.
Das kleine, aber feine Publikum genoss den Abend sichtlich.

Australian band SKYND arrived at Ääniwalli in Helsinki as part of their DEAD SERIOUS TOUR.
Their music embraces the grim aesthetic of true crime, with songs largely inspired by disturbing deaths and murders. As expected, the band delivered and had the crowd with them from the very first song onward.

Witch Fever – Fevereaten UK & Europe Tour 2026 @ Komplex 457, Zürich
Nachdem die Band im vergangenen Jahr noch als Support von Volbeat auf grösseren Bühnen zu sehen war, steht sie nun erstmals wieder auf eigener Tour – und zeigt dabei eindrucksvoll, dass sie auch ohne prominente Begleitung zu überzeugen weiss. Ihr energiegeladener Sound, der gekonnt Elemente aus Alternative Rock und Post-Punk verbindet, entfaltet vor allem in kleinen, intimen Clubs seine volle Wirkung.
