Muse
On Wednesday, the 12 July 2023, we are pleased to welcome Muse in Bern this year. The band will be supported by Emilie Zoé and Royal Blood.
Emilie Zoé was not scheduled to perform with Muse this evening. The original line-up was One Ok Rock, who unfortunately couldn’t come. Also, the Location has to be changed from the Wankdorf Stadium to the BEA EXPO. The organisers built a special open air area with bleachers. However, the scene is still identical to compare in a stadium. Maybe the daylight changed a bit with the open air.
Unfortunately, the traffic was so bad that I wasn’t able to take any photos of Emilie Zoé.
The band Royal Blood was formed in 2014 and had the opportunity to perform before Muse. They performed a setlist of just under 10 songs in front of tens of thousands of people with confidence. Despite the fact that there are only 2 of them on this big stage, they manage to captivate the audience. Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher went from one song to the next without transition, with riffs that created a crazy energy during the concert. The performance was exceptional, before Muse took over just less one hour later.
Just before the start of the Muse concert, the technical team decided to lay a non-slip floor to avoid slipping on stage. This led to a 15 minutes delay. The band kicked off with the new song from their new album “Wild of The People”. Despite the rain, Matthew Bellamy used the catwalk all the way. The heavy rain prevented some fans from staying and they unfortunately left during the first part of the concert. It’s a shame as the rain stopped a little later. We were entertained by a 25-song setlist with exceptional lighting and a few pyrotechnic effects. Muse fans will probably have to wait a few years for their return to Switzerland. If you can’t wait, you can always see them abroad. The last date of the European tour is Milan on 22 July 2023.
