Porispere 2025Â Punk, Thunderstorms and a Touch of Anarchy
Porispere is a summer festival held in the city of Pori, Western Finland. It’s been going strong since 2005, originally known for leaning toward the heavier end of the music spectrum. Over the years, though, the lineup has grown more diverse and now Porispere is a classic Finnish summer festival with everything from metal and rap to pop and punk.
This year’s unofficial theme was clearly punk. The Headliner of the festival was non other than The Sex Pistols from UK. Anarchy symbols were plastered across street posters and the whole marketing campaign carried a bit cheeky DIY vibe.
Weather-wise, it was mostly kind. Though Friday night did its best to deliver a dramatic backdrop with pounding rain and even some lightning. Saturday brought a welcome break, and the festival crowd stayed dry and happy.
Porispere has three stages, all smartly placed so the sound doesn’t clash. Moving between them is easy, and the third stage is actually set in an old summer theatre – meaning you can even sit down for a gig if you feel like it. Nice touch.
The lineup this year was a mix of Finnish legends and international icons. Apulanta, Atomirotta, Bloodred Hourglass, Egotrippi, Ellinoora, Gasellit, Ismo Alanko, Kotiteollisuus, Olavi Uusivirta, Saimaa, The Sounds, Turmion Kätilöt and of course, the Sex Pistols.
As a whole, Porispere 2025 was well-organized and smooth. No frustrating queues, everything just worked. The food scene was solid, with veggie options available. The beer? Let’s say it was pricey and very Finnish. But hey, you don’t come to Porispere for craft IPAs.Â
If the lineup speaks to you, there’s absolutely no reason to skip Pori. There’s even an affordable camping site right next to the festival area. Porispere is a welcome staple in the Finnish festival calendar, rough around the edges, full of heart, and loud in all the right ways.
