TUSKA 2024
This years TUSKA was once again a festival, that will get an permanent place in the memory of many visitors. 60’000 people gathered together in the festival area in middle of Helsinki over the course of 3 days. They got offered a lot! 61 bands, interesting talks at the TUSKA Forum, an well visited TUSKA Expo and a bold variety of food.
The mood was exceptional good and also the weather was perfect without a single drop of rain.
Apart form the bands, there was a place, I visited on multiple occasions. The TUSKA Forum held different talk with various band members. Topics ranged from touring life and work live balance to artistic autonomy and gaming & music.

Unfortunately my visit to the TUSKA Expo was really short, since the lineup was packed with so many great bands, it was hard to find time for anything else. As every year, we got a total of four stages of which two are played on at the same time. Speaking of stages. The Open Air II stage got a lot bigger comparing to last year. Almost too big for my taste, but according to the bands it was great. And also for the crowd, since they could spread better and more of them were able to enjoy the shows.
The third biggest stage was still in the tent and offered the nicest visuals with a lot of colors and smoke. The KVLT stage was the smallest and also an indoor stage. And it was the only stage that got queues, because the space was limited. But if you made it to a gig of those lesser known bands, you got more than often rewarded by a great performance and fresh sound. I can imagine that some of those bands will be soon playing on bigger stages.
Back to the biggest stage, the Karhu stage hosted many great performances. I personally enjoyed Parkway Drive, Alestorm, Lost Society and Bring Me The Horizon a lot, despite the fact, that I wasn’t allowed to take any photos of the last mentioned.
My verdict is very positive. Nice and interesting people, combined with great performances and an good organization. Kiitos TUSKA!
We also made a few interviews (in English, coming soon) and a small video about the festival (in Swiss German)
